Make in India is a flagship initiative launched by the Government of India in September 2014 to transform India into a global manufacturing hub. Startups can register with the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT) to be recognised as "Startups" under India's Startup India policy. DPIIT-recognised startups benefit from: income tax exemptions for 3 years, lighter compliance requirements (labour laws, environmental laws), fast-track patent examination, government procurement without turnover/experience conditions, access to Fund-of-Funds (FFS) through SIDBI, and ESOPs taxation benefits.
