REGISTRATION

The Restriction of Hazardous Substances (RoHS) Directive (2002/95/EC), effective from July 1, 2006 and updated by RoHS 2 (2011/65/EU) and RoHS 3 (2015/863/EU), prohibits the use of specific hazardous substances in electrical and electronic equipment (EEE) placed on the European Union market. Compliance is mandatory for manufacturers, importers, and distributors of EEE products.RoHS restricts six hazardous substances beyond the following maximum concentration thresholds: Lead (Pb) ≤0.1%; Mercury (Hg) ≤0.1%; Cadmium (Cd) ≤0.01%; Hexavalent Chromium (Cr VI) ≤0.1%; Polybrominated Biphenyls (PBB) ≤0.1%; and Polybrominated Diphenyl Ethers (PBDE) ≤0.1%.RoHS compliance involves: collecting material composition data and RoHS declarations from all component and material suppliers; conducting XRF (X-Ray Fluorescence) screening or full ICP laboratory analysis on product components; reviewing compliance against the threshold limits; and preparing an EU Declaration of Conformity with an accompanying Technical Dossier.
