REGISTRATION

Environmental Clearance (EC) from the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change (MoEF&CC) is mandatory for certain categories of industrial and infrastructure projects that may cause significant environmental impacts, under the Environment Impact Assessment (EIA) Notification 2006 as amended. The objective is to ensure that major development projects undergo rigorous environmental assessment before construction or operations commence.Projects are classified into two categories: Category A projects — large-scale developments with potential interstate or national environmental impacts — are appraised by the Expert Appraisal Committee (EAC) at the national level under MoEF&CC; Category B projects are assessed by the State Environmental Impact Assessment Authority (SEIAA).
